Meet The Mezzanine Marketing Consultants: Lisa Shepherd

Mezzanine Growth houses some spectacular marketing consultants. More than marketing talent, they’re interesting, smart and have lived some fascinating lives that are worth sharing. So you can get to know us better, we’re running a staff profile series,  beginning with the founder of Mezzanine, our fearless leader, Lisa Shepherd.

At Work

Lisa considers her expertise to be sales and marketing for small and mid-sized B2B companies, and with good reason. She has been in the industry for more than 15 years and considers building Mezzanine to be her greatest accomplishment. Speaking to her experience in marketing and running a business, Lisa opened up and shared:

What’s your day-to-day role at Mezzanine entail?  To raise awareness of Mezzanine, predominantly through thought leadership and presentations

What is your favourite marketing tactic?  Search Engine Optimization

What is your favourite source for marketing information? Weekly email from Open View Labs

What’s your “must follow” Twitter account?  @openviewlabs

What embarrassing mistake have you made that has taught you a lesson? Talking about a client’s weaknesses immediately after leaving a meeting – and realizing that we were still within earshot

At Home

Like many entrepreneurs, Lisa knows how difficult it can be to draw a clear divisive line between work and life. Sometimes the lines have to be blurred, and there’s no more welcomed way than when she brings Jackson, a sweet and skittish Husky mix she rescued 5 years ago, into the office. Never trailing far behind, Jackson waits dutifully under tables until it’s time to clock out. When that happens, Lisa uses (and plans to use) her time wisely:

What is your favourite city to travel to in the world?  Paris, France

What's number 1 on your bucket list? Follow F1 around the world for a year

What’s your hidden talent?  Japanese calligraphy

What’s your favorite book? Lately – The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolve
