Part #1: Test your Mark-up Language Quality

Your website is one of the major marketing tools you’ll implement as part of a comprehensive marketing strategy. It is also an essential source for generating new leads. Success of your website is directly correlated to its quality: proper design, SEO optimization, rich content, etc. Basic diagnostics of your website can be gathered from free to use online tools, such as Website Grader form HubSpot. However, it is not enough to fully understand the state and performance of your website.

Mark-up language is a core of any website, which is designed for the processing, definition and presentation of text. HTML is the most common mark-up language for websites. Any web page which fails to comply with the language standards could have different errors, starting from problems being viewed in different browsers to poor Google indexing.

To understand the quality of your website you should conduct the following testing:

  • Check the syntax of Atom or RSS feeds – a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works, such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and videos. http://validator.w3.org/feed/

Stay knowledgeable about the marketing tools available to you. Even if you don’t fully understand all technicalities of your website structure, be able to identify any issues and discuss them with your web designer.

What marketing tools can you recommend to assess your website?
